It’s a New Day!
Today, I quit my job, and I’m relieved. It’s exhilarating yet scary, mostly because of the unknown. We all wrestle with this fear in today’s chaotic world, with economic chaos, inflation, wars, and more. We’re stuck in jobs, relationships, and cities that no longer serve us. Many of us never reach our potential because of our circumstances. We fear doing things that make sense to us because we fear being labeled crazy or losing our minds.
Maybe I’m losing it, but is that so bad? What if the “mind” I’m losing is the very one I was taught to care for? What is a good mindset, according to Google? It’s the collection of beliefs and thoughts that guide how you react to the world. A good mindset helps you grow, feel emotionally stable, and bounce back from hard times.
What if the part of my mindset I’m losing is the one I was never meant to have, like a dependence on money that sacrifices my mental well-being? Think of our parents and grandparents. What did they endure or sacrifice to provide for us? Is that strength, or are we selling ourselves short for what’s comfortable or “makes sense”?
Why don’t we think radically anymore? What happened to us as a people? We’re afraid to step outside the imaginary lines society has set for us. And when I say radical, I don’t mean burning everything down. I mean things that will truly help us grow as a society. We’re all growing tired well at least I am. I haven’t met anyone genuinely happy with their lives. Everything revolves around work, bills, politics, and inflation. It’s exhausting. But how many of us have truly asked what we’re exhausted about? Is it work, the inability to get ahead, or a deep spiritual tiredness? For me, it’s all of the above. I’m tired of working for someone else’s dreams and the monetary gain that doesn’t matter to me anymore. We live in a society where money is essential for success, and I believe that mindset is fading. How did we become a capitalist world where money is power? When did we prioritize material things over each other? Where did our descent begin? Many people have this question, but no one dares to ask it. If I were to speak from the heart, I think the answer is when we stopped looking at the possibility of contributing to humanity and started focusing on ourselves. Who sold us this dream? Like the snake in the Garden of Eden, they told us to look out for ourselves and call it and anything that we found or created if others wanted to enjoy it that had to pay feels a little like selfishness wrapped up as capitalism to me. Who had this idea that I should own whatever money or benefits come with it? I get it to a degree. But why do we need money if everything on earth existed before we arrived? I don’t care if you believe in evolution or God, but I hope you believe in God. Regardless of your beliefs, the earth and everything in it existed before we stepped on it! People thought they discovered land and decided to create their own sects, currency, and rent land to citizens cause we never really own it. They also sold resources that no one truly owns, back to us allowing the “country” to build an economy for trade. And us? the people were asked to help, and they were given the illusion of safety from enemies those in power created. And who pays for that? But what choice do we have how do we get out of the rat race?
Many of us have worked hard to obtain temporary joys and find personal meaning in our work, but how many of us are truly happy in this way of life? How many of us has asked ourselves if stripped of money, possessions, degrees, and achievements, and all worldly measures of success, who would I be? How would you choose to live your life if money was no longer a barrier? If money wasn’t a factor, I’d travel the world, explore every corner, grow closer to God, and understand His desires for my life without external pressure. I’d spend time with my loved ones whenever I want. I’d learn how to sustain off the land through gardening. That sounds like heaven, the true way we were meant to live. I don’t see God in working for pennies to make someone else rich while being taxed excessively. And for what? If I’m crazy, so be it. But if presented with this question. How would you answer?
