Diseases of the Heart
Hate, anger, slander, fear, gossip, sexual immorality, jealousy, factions, envy, selfish ambition, discord, etc., are all signs of a diseased heart. And we can front, but we all have been infected even more today. Look at our youth; they ridicule love and embrace hate. We wonder why they’re dying when we teach them to give the same respect they are given when the Bible teaches to put others before ourselves. Let’s face it, we promote hatred. We cut each other off where we claim forgiveness to forgive is to forget. Not even God counts our sins, yet we keep a tally on every sin someone has committed, and we embrace what is not good. This is what Jesus meant: we welcome pettiness, separation, gossip, and slander. We hate each other openly but yet quick to yell “no love lost.” Let’s be real, words paint the picture. We’ve all become artists mastering the art of deception. We hide the truth in our hearts; we say we love, but by our actions, we have all operated in hate. I’m pretty sure this is why God searches the minds and the hearts. How contagious that disease is! A lot of us don’t even know we are infected. This is why Jesus said, “You know a tree by its fruit. A person that’s rooted in love you will see it in their actions, but someone whose roots have hatred you will show the symptoms.” I’m not ashamed to say I have exhibited all these symptoms, but I refuse to let my heart remain ill. Although it’s hard, every waking day I strive to try and do better, try to control my thoughts and emotions. I look forward to when my heart is made pure. Until then, I look to Jesus because he has become my cure. For my past, present, and future, he has already forgiven. The rest of my journey is dependent on me, and in the end, all I want is to be set free. 🕊.
